The twin facilities were first announced in 2016. Outside of its two core facilities, TM operates four other data centers in Malaysia and several Edge facilities. The company has also partnered with Singtel’s Nxera unit to develop another data center in Johor. The first 64MW phase is due to launch in 2026 – it can be scaled to 100MW.
The solar projects will be installed at several locations across the country, including at TM’s Klang Valley data center (KVDC) in Cyberjaya and Iskandar Puteri data center (IPDC) in Johor.
Under the terms of the PPA, Gentari will design, install, and operate 4.3MW of solar projects at the TM facilities, which will generate 4.82GWh on an annual basis. The capacity is expected to reduce the Malaysian data center developer''s CO2 emissions by approximately 3,655,251 tons.
In addition, Gentari will also install solar capacity at the TM R&D Complex in Cyberjaya, TM Stesen Kabel Dasar Laut in Mersing, and Multimedia University campuses in Cyberjaya and Melaka.
