Earlier this year, the Portuguese government announced the outcome of an energy storage tender that will see the installation of 500 MW of energy storage capacity to support the country’s energy transition. According to the provisional results, 43 projects were selected to receive just below EUR 100 million (USD 104.7m). (EUR 1 = USD 1.048)
The projects listed for public feedback on the government’s consultation portal include two solar-plus-storage sites. Two solar-plus-storage projects are among five planned renewable energy sites whose details have been published for public consultation on the Portuguese Environment Agency’s Participa portal.
The winning bids encompass two 20-MW/40-MWh facilities, both coupled with solar plants. One is collocated with the 48-MWp Barcos solar project, while the other is hooked to the 27-MWp Rio Seco solar plant.
