The main contributor to the energy demand of the storage facility are the pumps (5.40·10−4kWh/kg(NH3)) utilized for loading or unloading and the refrigeration cycle to liquify evaporated ammonia . As a result, the self-discharge due to evaporation losses is assumed to be 7.75·10−4kWh/kg of ammonia per day (cf.SI).
