PSA Mumbai has reached a significant milestone in its emissions reduction path with the commissioning of its 7.8 megawatt (MW) solar farm with O2 Power. As a result, this makes PSA Mumbai India’s first 100 per cent renewable powered container terminal. The terminal has also set a goal of reducing carbon emissions by 50 per cent by 2030.
The solar farm, which will be expanded to 10MW by June 2024, will provide over 75% of PSA Mumbai’s electricity requirements (based on 2023 consumption rates) with the remaining renewable power sourced from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and other providers.
The plants are connected to PSA Mumbai via existing MSEDCL infrastructure. CEO of PSA Mumbai Andy Lane said: “We are delighted to commission our solar farm, and with the switch to 100% renewable power, achieve a significant reduction in our emissions.
