The plant, which will be the first battery-based energy storage facility in the Philippines, will be located next to the Masinloc power plant in Zambales. The energy storage array will enhance grid reliability by providing fast response ancillary services like frequency regulation.
The project, which is strategically located on the Philippines’ main island of Luzon, about 100km from Manila, will combine 3.5GWp of solar PV capacity with 4.5GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS).
Through the Energy Secure Philippines Project, the U.S. will work with Philippine government and private sector partners to improve the performance and efficiency of energy utilities, deploy renewable energy systems, enhance competition in the power sector, and address energy sector cybersecurity.
The project has strong sustainability credentials, notably because of its impact in decarbonising the Philippines’ energy system (SDG7), but also by generating power to support economic development (SDG8), creating more than 10,000 new jobs (SDG8), and facilitating local development (SDGs3+4).
Our standardized photovoltaic power generation and energy storage products are engineered for reliability, safety, and efficient deployment. All systems include comprehensive monitoring and control systems with remote management capabilities.
